KT announced on the 6th that it will completely revamp its distribution strategy by expanding the exclusive original content previously available only on its internet TV (IPTV) platform 'Genie TV' to various online video streaming services (OTT) platforms.
Accordingly, KT simultaneously released 'Riding Life,' starring Jeon Hye-jin and Jo Min-su, on both TVING and Genie TV last month. 'New Recruit 3,' starring Kim Min-ho and Kim Dong-jun, which will be released on the 7th, will also be simultaneously available on TVING and Genie TV to secure a broader audience. KT will also partner with overseas OTT platforms. 'Your Taste,' starring Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si, will be released simultaneously on Netflix next month.
Along with this, KT will launch a marketing campaign under the new slogan "Meet Genie Anywhere." From the 1st to the 6th of next month, an offline popup store for Genie TV originals will be operated at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, and a YouTube video conveying the new brand value will also be released. Additionally, throughout April, KT will hold events such as first pitch and first batter ceremonies at Suwon KT Wiz Park baseball stadium with the cast of New Recruit 3, a Dream Premiere screening inviting long-term KT wired and wireless customers, and collaborations with popular YouTube channels.
Shin Jong-su, Head of KT Media Strategy Division (Senior Executive Director), stated, "We plan to revamp our distribution strategy so that more viewers can experience our original content and establish our brand as competitive in the global market. We will expand the market by cooperating with domestic and international OTTs and continuously present differentiated content."
