"Han Ducksoo Must Announce Presidential Election Date and Declare Political Neutrality," Says Democratic Party [Yoon Sukyeol Expulsion]

On April 6, the Democratic Party of Korea urged Acting President and Prime Minister Han Ducksoo to "promptly announce the date of the presidential election and declare political neutrality."

Kim Yoonduk, Secretary-General of the Democratic Party, made this statement during a press briefing held at the National Assembly, saying, "The primary focus for Acting President Han should be on the livelihoods of the people."

Secretary-General Kim emphasized, "He must devote himself to providing support and recovery efforts for the worst wildfire damage in history. Responding to U.S. tariff policies is also extremely urgent, and the supplementary budget bill must be submitted to the National Assembly without delay."

He added, "We hope that all efforts will be concentrated on revitalizing the economy and improving people's livelihoods," and stated, "Our Democratic Party will actively cooperate in initiatives that benefit the people."

Kim also called on the People Power Party to expel former President Yoon Sukyeol. He criticized, "The shameless behavior of disregarding the public by already talking about the next presidential election has gone too far," and added, "Not even a day has passed since the party's number one member was expelled for betraying the people, yet Yoon Sukyeol is being dismissed as a figure of the past."

He continued, "Those who condoned, aided, abetted, and even plotted for the return of the ringleader of the rebellion are now busy distancing themselves as if nothing happened," and demanded, "Immediately expel party member number one, Yoon Sukyeol, and take clear action against lawmakers who participated in inciting and promoting the rebellion."

Secretary-General Kim asserted, "If you do not take clear responsibility for the rebellion before the people, you must remember that you are not even qualified to nominate a presidential candidate."
