Ranked First with a Score of 61 in KnowTheChain's International NGO Evaluation
Samsung Electronics has been recognized as the company that best addresses supply chain human rights management responsibilities among global information and communication technology (ICT) companies.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 6th that it ranked first with a score of 61 out of 100 in a supply chain human rights management evaluation conducted by KnowTheChain, an international non-profit organization, targeting 45 major global ICT listed companies. This evaluation consists of seven areas: policy and governance, supply chain transparency and risk management, purchasing practices, recruitment, worker rights, monitoring, and remediation measures, and is conducted biennially.
Despite an uncertain business environment, Samsung Electronics was recognized for its efforts in supply chain human rights management, rising 15 points from the 2022 evaluation to achieve the highest industry ranking. In particular, it received high scores in policy and governance, supply chain transparency and risk management, and recruitment by improving areas such as the introduction of due diligence and grievance procedures for lower-tier suppliers and expanding due diligence to protect the human rights of foreign migrant workers.
KnowTheChain stated, "We highly appreciate Samsung Electronics for enhancing disclosure in all areas of supply chain human rights management responsibility," adding, "especially for continuously making substantial improvements in preventing risks related to forced labor."
