LG Aimers Hackathon Held: Challenging AI Development
Recruitment Fair Featuring Seven LG Affiliates Including LG Electronics

LG has stepped up to support the challenges of young people creating innovations in the world through artificial intelligence (AI) technology.


LG announced on the 6th that it held the 'LG Aimers Hackathon' at the LG Inhwa Garden in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, from the 5th for a 1-night, 2-day event. A hackathon is a combination of hacking and marathon, referring to an event where services or programs are developed within a given time. This hackathon was organized to help young people aspiring to become AI experts build practical skills.

Among 2,738 applicants for the 6th LG Aimers, 98 participants who completed AI expert training and passed the online preliminary round with excellent results took part. The hackathon theme was "Developing AI to predict the pregnancy success rate for infertility patients." LG Chem and Maria Hospital set the problem and provided hundreds of thousands of data points. LG Chem holds the number one market share in infertility treatment drugs in Korea, and Maria Hospital is a leading infertility treatment research institution.


LG enabled hackathon participants to develop problem-solving skills by verifying dozens of variables through diverse approaches. Participants gained hands-on experience by developing AI technology using actual treatment data from infertility patients.


LG provided all participants with a participation grant of 1 million KRW per person, totaling 100 million KRW. Additionally, the top three teams, including the grand prize (Minister of Employment and Labor Award) and the excellence award (LG AI Research Institute Director Award), received a total prize of 10 million KRW and exemption from document screening when applying for employment.

A recruitment fair involving seven affiliates?LG AI Research Institute, LG Electronics, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Uplus, and LG CNS?was also held. Recruitment information was shared, and registration for the LG AI talent pool, which can be prioritized in future hiring, was guided.


LG Aimers is an AI talent development program reflecting the talent management philosophy of LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, who believes that "technology and innovation that change the world start with talent, and they are the source of national competitiveness." Since its launch in the second half of 2022, 15,000 people have applied over three years.
