Former U.S. President Barack Obama and former Vice President Kamala Harris publicly criticized President Donald Trump.
According to CNN on the 4th (local time), former President Obama expressed serious concerns about the Trump administration's violations of citizens' rights during a lecture held at Hamilton College that day.

Former President Obama pointed out, "Threatening a university to which a student exercising the right to freedom of expression belongs, or threatening to cut ties with law firms defending those they dislike, violates the basic promises shared as American citizens."
He added, "Imagine how it would have been if I had acted this way," and said, "The silent parties now would not have let it pass as they do now."
Former President Obama also asserted that the Trump administration's tariff policies "will not help the United States," and criticized policies on borders and the media.
Former Vice President Harris, who ran as the Democratic candidate in last year's presidential election, also sharply criticized President Trump, her competitor.
In a video speech sent to a women's event that day, she argued that President Trump's re-election is causing great fear in American society.
Former Vice President Harris said, "We are witnessing those who succumb to clearly unconstitutional threats," and added, "These daily incidents occurring across the United States over the past few months are causing great fear."
She urged voters to raise their voices, saying, "When one person feels fear, that emotion spreads around, but courage is contagious as well."
