Reaffirming Defense Commitment to South Korea"
On the 4th (local time), the U.S. government stated regarding the Constitutional Court's unanimous decision by all eight justices to accept the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, "The United States respects South Korea's democratic institutions, legal procedures, and the Constitutional Court's decision."

The U.S. Department of State said, "The United States will work closely with the South Korean government, including Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, until a new president is elected, and will do its best to maintain the stability and continuity of the ROK-U.S. alliance."
It added, "The United States looks forward to a future of close cooperation that will bring security and prosperity to both countries," and stated, "We reaffirm our continued strong alliance with South Korea and our commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea."
