Relay of Volunteer Service Expands as The Born Korea Provides Meals for 8,000 People
Baek Jongwon and "Heukbaek Yori-sa" Chefs Join to Support Andong Wildfire Victims
Baek Jongwon, CEO of The Born Korea, visited Andong again, continuing his volunteer work by providing free meals to comfort wildfire victims and firefighting personnel.
Baek Jongwon, who visited Andong again, is sharing warmth with employees at a free meal service center.
Since March 28, The Born Korea has been serving warm meals to affected residents and firefighters at the free meal center in Gil-an Middle School, Andong, providing food for 8,000 people. Around 50 company employees have been cooking on-site from 4 a.m. every day, serving meals to more than 1,000 people on average per day.
They also actively supported the victims by delivering meals to those who could not visit the site in person.
The goodwill of The Born Korea has spread as a relay of volunteer work. Over 10 chefs who appeared on the program "Heukbaek Yori-sa," in which Baek Jongwon participates, also joined as volunteers, helping with ingredient preparation and meal cooking.
On April 3, Baek returned to Andong, personally preparing 800 servings of food and visiting Andong Gymnasium, where most victims are staying, to serve meals himself and deliver a message of encouragement: "Stay strong."
Baek Jongwon said, "I wish I could come every day, but I'm sorry that I can't," and added, "I will think about ways for Andong to recover daily life quickly so that this volunteer work does not end as a one-time event."
Andong Mayor Kwon Gichang expressed his gratitude, saying, "I deeply appreciate the continued volunteer work of CEO Baek and the cast of Heukbaek Yori-sa. The warm support from many people is giving hope and courage to the victims." He added, "Andong City will make the swift recovery of citizens' daily lives our top priority and devote all efforts to restoring the damage."
