Andong City Recruiting Participants for 'Grandparent-Grandchild Care Program'

Applications Accepted at Andong Senior Club from April 7 to 16
Job Creation for Seniors and Reducing Childcare Gaps Expected

Andong City, North Gyeongsang Province, announced that it will be recruiting participants for the "2025 Grandparents-Grandchildren Care Program" from April 7 to 16. This program is designed to promote social participation among the elderly and to reduce the childcare burden for dual-income and single-parent families.

Andong City Recruiting Participants for 'Grandparent-Grandchild Care Program' Andong City, Gyeongbuk Province, is recruiting participants for the grandparent-grandchild care project in 2025.

Through this program, (grand)parents of children from families with limited access to care will provide comprehensive care services, including support for commuting to and from school, childcare and education, and play activities. A total of 40 participants will be recruited.


Eligible applicants are (grand)parents aged 60 or older who can care for their grandchildren from families with limited access to care. The families eligible to receive the service must have children aged between 24 months and under 10 years old (born after January 1, 2014).


However, employees covered by the National Health Insurance, participants in other job programs, and families already receiving similar home care services are not eligible to apply.


To apply, interested grandparents and families must visit the Andong Senior Club in person, and only one grandparent per household may apply.


Participants will be selected in order of highest score, based on a comprehensive evaluation of income level, degree of need for care, and the applicant's capabilities.

Andong Mayor Kwon Gichang said, "The Grandparents-Grandchildren Care Program is a solution that can simultaneously create jobs for the elderly and address childcare gaps in a rapidly changing society. In particular, we expect that grandparents and grandchildren living together will enhance emotional stability and support healthy growth."


Andong City plans to continue expanding various job programs that utilize the experience and capabilities of the elderly.
