About 80 Staff Members Plant 100 Fruit Trees, Including Cherry, Plum, and Apricot Trees
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held a 'Carbon Neutral Staff Tree Planting Event' around Achasan Mountain to commemorate the 80th Arbor Day.
This event was organized to expand carbon sinks and green spaces within the city to respond to climate change and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality. About 80 staff members, including Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho, participated in the event and planted 100 fruit trees such as cherry trees, plum trees, and apricot trees, divided by sections.
Before the Arbor Day event, a wildfire prevention campaign was conducted together with the Volunteer Disaster Prevention Group. The district has designated January 24 to May 15 as the spring wildfire caution period and is making every effort to prevent wildfires through monitoring and patrolling vulnerable areas.
Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “The small act of planting and nurturing trees will become a precious seed that passes on a green and healthy nature to our children,” and added, “We will continue to promote various environmental conservation activities so that Gwangjin-gu can grow into a sustainable green city.”
