Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 4th that it is recruiting participants for a Korean archery experience program designed to foster love among family members by utilizing Gukgung, a traditional skill of the Korean people.
The Gukgung Archery Family Love Experience Camp will take place at Gwan Deokjeong in Sajik Park for one month, from the 10th of next month to June 14th. The aim is for parents and children to strengthen their bonds through a unique activity and to widely promote Korea's traditional culture.
The Gukgung archery experience camp will be held every Saturday at 10 a.m. for two hours. Registration opens at 9 a.m. on the 14th of next month. Interested families can apply by submitting an application form through the Nam-gu Culture and Education Event app. The program is limited to the first 10 families on a first-come, first-served basis, and participation is free of charge.
Participants will learn archery theory and etiquette, and then experience a variety of archery activities, including shooting at a short distance of 10 meters, a long distance of 30 meters, and Pyeonsa shooting.
An official from the district said, "Through this traditional skill experience, it will be a great opportunity to increase interest in our country's traditional culture and to develop talents. We encourage many interested families to participate and show their support."
