Jin Seongjun: "Choi Sangmok's Unconstitutional Actions Demand Immediate Suspension"
Jin Seong-jun, the Policy Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "I voted against the motion to refer the impeachment proposal of Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, which was submitted to the plenary session of the National Assembly, to the Legislation and Judiciary Committee for investigation."
On the 4th, Jin conveyed this message through a post titled "Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok must be impeached immediately" on his Facebook page.
He explained, "It is not because I oppose the impeachment of Choi Sang-mok, but because the then Acting President Choi Sang-mok's failure to appoint Ma Eun-hyuk, the nominee for Constitutional Court Justice, was a clear violation of the Constitution. Therefore, there is no need for a separate investigation by the Judiciary Committee, and the impeachment should be resolved immediately."
Jin cited the ruling that "the Acting President's failure to appoint Ma Eun-hyuk, the Constitutional Court Justice nominee elected by the National Assembly, infringes upon the Constitutional Court's composition rights," criticizing Acting President Choi for "committing an unconstitutional act."
He added, "It is appropriate to immediately suspend his duties and have the Constitutional Court adjudicate the matter," and questioned, "What reason would the National Assembly have to conduct an additional investigation on a matter unanimously confirmed by the Constitutional Court?"
