36 Million KRW in Donations and Goods Collected for Yeongnam Wildfire Victims
Hongseong County and the Hongseong County Entrepreneurs Association donated cash and goods worth 36 million won to help residents affected by the wildfires in Yeongnam.
Last year in 2023, Hongseong County in Chungnam, which suffered from the largest wildfire in its history, along with local business leaders, have stepped up to help residents in the Yeongnam region who are struggling due to large-scale wildfires.
To support wildfire victims in the Yeongnam region, Hongseong County launched a county-wide fundraising campaign on the 3rd. Together with the Hongseong County Business Association, they collected a total of 36 million KRW in donations and goods by the morning of the 4th, which were delivered to the Korean Red Cross.
The donations and goods contributed this time were collected with the active participation of 24 member companies of the Hongseong County Business Association, including Taehwa Ad Construction, who responded after hearing about the county’s fundraising campaign.
Jang Bogeun, president of the Hongseong County Business Association, said, "Two years ago, our region also suffered from wildfire damage, so with empathy for those who have lost their homes and are struggling due to the recent large-scale wildfires, local business leaders have united to provide some support. We will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibility and practice shared management that coexists with the local community."
Lee Yongrok, governor of Hongseong County, said, "I hope these donations and relief supplies will provide practical help and hope to residents suffering from wildfire damage. I deeply thank the business leaders who have shown such warm generosity even in difficult times. I hope that the residents of the Yeongnam region affected by the wildfires can quickly return to their daily lives."
