Acting President Han said at an emergency National Security Council (NSC) plenary meeting held at the Government Seoul Office in the afternoon, "I deeply regret the unfortunate situation of the second impeachment of a sitting head of state in the history of the constitution."

He explained, "The security situation facing the Republic of Korea is more severe than ever before," adding, "At times like this, we must devote all our efforts to protecting the safety of the Republic of Korea and the lives and security of our people."

He continued, "We must continue the cooperative framework maintained with the new U.S. administration in the fields of diplomacy and security, and thoroughly respond on a whole-of-government basis with our industrial sector to necessary domestic and international measures regarding new issues such as mutual tariffs."

He also stated, "We ask that you actively respond to the impact of the close Russia-North Korea ties on our security and consistently pursue efforts to promote the freedom and human rights of North Korean residents."

Acting President Han added, "In this grave situation, I once again urge the diplomatic and security ministries to unite and exert all efforts to unwaveringly protect the nation's security and the safety of our people."
