Agreement Signed for "Character Education Linked to Local History Education"
by Six Organizations
The children's history book "Buyeo History Exploration Team," published by Buyeo County in Chungnam, will be utilized in the official local history education curriculum.
On the 4th, Buyeo County signed a business agreement with the Buyeo Office of Education for "Character Education Linked to Local History Education" and will conduct local history education as part of the regular curriculum for approximately 700 students in grades 3 to 5 across 24 elementary schools in the area.
This agreement includes a total of six organizations: Buyeo County, Buyeo Office of Education, the National Buyeo Museum, the National Buyeo Cultural Heritage Research Institute, the Baekje World Heritage Center Foundation, and the Buyeo Village Education Community.
These organizations plan to strengthen their cooperative relationship to promote local history education and will collaborate in various areas such as establishing an educational foundation, sharing resources and information, developing educational materials, supporting and operating classes, and enhancing the capabilities of teaching staff.
The county plans to continuously publish "Buyeo History Exploration Team" and distribute activity books to enhance educational effectiveness as part of the regular local history curriculum.
In addition, students will be actively supported in hands-on learning such as site visits to historical locations so they can experience history firsthand.
County Governor Park Junghyun stated, "By introducing local history education into the regular curriculum, we will ensure that children learn about Buyeo's history and culture correctly and develop a sense of pride," adding, "I hope this case will become a model educational program for other local governments as well as Buyeo."
