The Chungnam Office of Education announced on the 4th that the 53rd Chungnam Youth Sports Festival will be held over three days from the 4th to the 6th, distributed across 13 regions in the province.
Hosted by the Chungnam Office of Education and organized by the Chungnam Sports Council and affiliated associations for each sport, the Chungnam Youth Sports Festival will feature a total of 2,892 student athletes from the province, with 1,464 athletes competing in 24 events for those aged 12 and under, and 1,428 athletes in 36 events for those aged 15 and under.
The competitions will take place in 13 regions within the province, each providing optimal conditions for their respective events. Eleven events, including volleyball, were held as preliminary competitions, while 23 events, including taekwondo, will be conducted during the main festival period. The diving event in swimming is scheduled to be held as a post-competition event.
The provincial Office of Education plans to send the outstanding student athletes selected through this festival as representatives of Chungnam to the 54th National Youth Sports Festival, which will be held from May 24th to 27th in Gimhae, Gyeongnam.
Lee Eunsang, Director of the Department of Physical Education and Health, said, "The student athletes have worked hard and sweated through their training under the guidance of their coaches, and I hope they will be able to fully demonstrate their abilities in this competition."
