The immersive digital book, the second of its kind introduced in Gyeonggi Province, is a new type of reading system that combines analog books with digital content and implements them as VR·AR-based content. Users can read books by touching the screen and experience key scenes in three dimensions through interactive content, providing a highly immersive reading environment.

The digital book can be freely used by anyone during the library’s opening hours without a separate reservation. The content introduced this time includes a total of 11 types: 6 rare books held by the National Library of Korea and 2 animation books for children. The city plans to continuously expand immersive content in response to citizen demand in the future.

A Namyangju City official said, “With this new digital book service that combines technology and reading, citizens will be able to experience the stories in books more interestingly and vividly.” He added, “An experiential event for children is also prepared in celebration of Library Day on the 12th, so we ask for the citizens’ great interest and participation.”
