Korean history instructor Jeon Han Gil, who had publicly supported former President Yoon Seokyeol, expressed a somber sentiment. Jeon, who had been supporting former President Yoon, revealed himself watching the Constitutional Court trial via a live broadcast on his YouTube channel around 11 a.m. on April 4, 2025. As the Constitutional Court's decision was announced in real time, Jeon's expression became visibly tense. Immediately after the dismissal verdict, he said, "I feel sorry to all the citizens who have opposed the impeachment of President Yoon Seokyeol and have called for his return to office," adding, "I was not good enough."

Jeon then stated that he "accepts" the impeachment verdict of the Constitutional Court, asking, "I hope you will accept the result together. That is exactly what we pursue: liberal democracy and the rule of law." However, regarding the meaning of acceptance, Jeon clarified that while he accepts the outcome, he does not believe the verdict itself is right or represents universal values. He added, "What I am asking is to refrain from personal resistance to the verdict, not to refrain from criticizing the content itself. It is entirely possible to criticize procedural issues with the Constitutional Court."

He later added, "Whenever I saw videos saying that 2060 would be the year South Korea collapses, I thought, 'No way,' but this soon? No, I kept telling myself things would change before then. Now, my thinking has changed. I am increasingly convinced that the country could collapse even faster than the world expects."


Earlier that morning, Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyungbae of the Constitutional Court stated, "The respondent violated the Constitution and the law by declaring martial law, thereby reenacting a history of abusing emergency powers, shocking the public and causing confusion across politics, diplomacy, and the economy." He continued, "Given the significant negative impact and ripple effects on the constitutional order, the benefit gained by dismissing the respondent is recognized as outweighing any other harm caused by removing the president from office." The court unanimously ruled to dismiss former President Yoon.
