Floor Leader Kwon mentioned the presidential election in two months, saying, "Despite all difficulties, we will fulfill our role as a responsible party for the nation and the people." He explained, "Time is tight, but we can never back down or lose this election because we cannot entrust the future of the Republic of Korea, which has been protected and nurtured with blood, sweat, and tears, to the perilous Lee Jae-myung faction."
He called for unity within the party. Floor Leader Kwon emphasized, "For victory, we must first unite as one," and added, "With that united strength, we must join forces with all citizens who seek to protect liberal democracy and the constitutional order, as well as all people who desire stability and integration."
He also expressed an apology to the people. Floor Leader Kwon said, "As the ruling party sharing joint responsibility for state administration, we are well aware that this responsibility is by no means light," and promised, "Taking the Constitutional Court's ruling as an opportunity, we will reflect more deeply and awaken ourselves to become a responsible party."
Regarding the Constitutional Court's ruling, he stated that it would be humbly accepted. Floor Leader Kwon mentioned, "We have repeatedly pointed out procedural and substantive issues with the presidential impeachment process, so there are many regrets about the Constitutional Court's decision," but added, "Though it pains us, the Constitutional Court's decision must be respected."
On that day at 11:22 a.m., the Constitutional Court held the verdict session for President Yoon's impeachment trial at the Grand Bench in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and unanimously decided to dismiss him. The dismissal took effect immediately, and from that moment, President Yoon lost his position.
