Kim Dong-yeon on Yoon's dismissal: "Urgent need for systems to prevent destructive acts against the democratic republic"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon proposed opening a new Republic of Korea where "the dignity and rights of each and every citizen are respected and realized," saying "the people have won" regarding the Constitutional Court's dismissal of President Yoon Seok-yeol.

In a press conference statement on the 4th, Governor Kim said, "'The Revolution of Light' has triumphed," adding, "On December 3rd last year, the power that tried to destroy the Republic of Korea collapsed before the judgment of the people."

He continued, "I also thank the National Assembly and the Constitutional Court for clearly establishing the principles and common sense of a democratic republic," and stated, "Although the ringleader of the rebellion has been dismissed, there is still a long way to go."

He emphasized, "The path we must take is not a return to before December 3rd last year," and "We must properly establish the country's norms and systems so that such reckless acts that destroy the democratic republic never occur again."

He also added, "The accomplices of the rebellion, the instigators of violence, must be held accountable," calling it "the duty of all politicians who want to protect the democratic republic."

Furthermore, he expressed concern, saying, "In the face of the economic and livelihood crises where no one can see even an inch ahead, everyone must gather strength and wisdom," adding, "Consumption is decreasing, investment is drying up, and jobs are disappearing."

In particular, he said, "The people are pushed to the brink of self-reliance, and now the tariff storm triggered by Trump has also hit," urging, "It is time to end the division and hostility in the square, gather national energy, and achieve an economic transformation."

Governor Kim concluded, "After the 'Revolution of Light,' the Republic of Korea must be completely changed," and "We must open a new Republic of Korea where the dignity and rights of each and every citizen are respected and realized."

Earlier, the Constitutional Court ruled at 11:22 a.m. that "Yoon Seok-yeol is dismissed." The court found all five disputes, including the substantial requirements for the declaration of martial law, to be illegal against the respondent (former President Yoon Seok-yeol).
