"Striving for Social Awareness Changes and Effective Policy Development"
Kim Kyungyeol, Chairperson of the Boseong County Council in Jeollanam-do, participated in a relay campaign on June 4 to raise public awareness about population decline and aging issues.
This campaign, jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Human Resources Development Institute for Health and Welfare, has been ongoing since October last year. It aims to highlight the seriousness of demographic changes caused by low birth rates and aging, and to enhance public awareness through a relay format involving government ministries, local governments, and public institutions.
This year, the Boseong County Council newly established a "Research Group for Overcoming the Crisis of Low Birth Rate and Population Decline" and is dedicating all efforts to developing practical and concrete policies. The council also plans to communicate with residents and make various efforts to address population issues together.
Chairperson Kim stated, "The population issues resulting from low birth rates and aging are challenges that everyone must consider and solve together," adding, "I will do my best to bring about social awareness changes and to discover effective policies to overcome population problems."
Meanwhile, Chairperson Kim joined the campaign upon the nomination of the Gangjin County Council Chairperson, and nominated Baek Insook, Chairperson of the Yeosu City Council, and Ryu Jedong, Chairperson of the Goheung County Council, as the next participants.
