Sangsangin Group (CEO Yoo Jun-won) announced on the 4th that it received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award at the ‘2025 Korea Best Management Awards’ held at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Yoo Jun-won, CEO of Sangsangin Group, was honored with the Minister of Employment and Labor Award in recognition of his leadership in job creation and employment stability based on ethical and compliance management. This accolade acknowledges his achievements in acquiring companies facing management difficulties, restoring their operations to normal, turning them profitable, and securing corporate sustainability, all grounded in the management philosophy of "Making the world better through imagination."
Previously, the number of employees at Texel Netcom (now Sangsangin) was 96 at the end of December 2008, but it grew significantly to 258 by the end of last year, marking remarkable growth. This is interpreted as the result of strengthening corporate competitiveness through innovative management strategies and business expansion since CEO Yoo acquired the company in 2009. In March 2018, Texel Netcom changed its name to Sangsangin and transitioned to a group company system, preparing for a new leap forward. Before the acquisition, Texel Netcom had been in poor financial condition, recording losses of hundreds of millions of won for several years, but CEO Yoo laid the foundation for growth through continuous business expansion and organizational strengthening, successfully turning the company profitable.
Gongpyeong Savings Bank (now Sangsangin Savings Bank), which was struggling with financial difficulties and facing the risk of being delisted, was acquired by Sangsangin Group in 2016 and has since been on a growth trajectory. According to the Korea Federation of Savings Banks, Sangsangin Savings Bank had total assets of 359.5 billion won, 94 employees, and 25,293 customers at the end of 2015. By the end of last year, it had grown into a large savings bank with total assets of 2.3763 trillion won, 153 employees, and 142,709 customers. Sejong Savings Bank (now Sangsangin Plus Savings Bank) also grew after being acquired by Sangsangin Group in 2012, reaching total assets of 1.3357 trillion won, 90 employees, and 79,379 customers by the end of last year.
Additionally, Golden Bridge Investment & Securities (now Sangsangin Securities), which recorded a net loss of 5.6 billion won in 2019, achieved a rapid turnaround by posting a net profit of 4 billion won in 2020 after being incorporated into Sangsangin Group. The number of employees more than doubled from 111 at the end of 2018 before the acquisition to 241 by the end of last year. Moreover, DMC (now KS Industry), a marine crane manufacturer that was undergoing rehabilitation due to capital erosion and bankruptcy risk, was acquired by Sangsangin Group in 2018 and successfully turned profitable the following year, transforming into a leading company in the LPG and LNG ship market.
CEO Yoo Jun-won is also leading efforts to enhance career capabilities and support social integration for isolated and reclusive youth as well as children and adolescents with disabilities.
Since 2018, Sangsangin Group has been supporting various educational programs such as music and art for children using wheelchairs, helping them become healthier members of society through the ‘Mobility Improvement Project for Children Using Wheelchairs,’ which has been ongoing for seven years. This social contribution activity provides customized manual wheelchairs and powered assist devices (electric kits) to all children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 nationwide who need wheelchairs. To date, approximately 4,000 children and adolescents have benefited from this support. CEO Yoo’s interest and support have genuinely helped wheelchair-using children and adolescents take steps toward healthy growth and social participation. For example, a child who was homeschooled improved social skills and newly enrolled in elementary school, a child who received art education debuted as a picture book poet, and nine wheelchair-using children won medals at the Disabled Sports Competition through a physical development project.
In addition, Sangsangin Group continues to show interest and support for the independent growth and social reintegration of isolated and reclusive youth by collaborating with the nonprofit organization ‘Happy Factory’ to operate ‘Yeongcha,’ a coffee truck run directly by these youth.
Yoo Jun-won, CEO of Sangsangin Group, stated, “I am pleased and grateful that our efforts to transform struggling companies into good companies, creating jobs and stabilizing employment, have been recognized externally. Going forward, Sangsangin Group will continue to advance as a sustainable company for the beneficial coexistence of society, customers, and employees.”
