Joint Enforcement Team Formed
Resolving the Issue of Tax Delinquency
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will conduct an intensive crackdown on the seizure of license plates from vehicles with overdue automobile taxes until the 31st of next month.
According to the city on the 4th, this measure is part of efforts to resolve the recurring issue of tax delinquency and to ensure fairness with the majority of citizens who faithfully fulfill their tax obligations.

The main targets of this crackdown are all vehicles that have failed to pay automobile taxes even once. However, for vehicles with a single instance of simple delinquency, the city plans to encourage voluntary payment first by attaching a "seizure notice" to the vehicle rather than immediately seizing the license plate.
For habitual delinquent vehicles with two or more instances of overdue taxes, the city will respond strictly without exception. The enforcement team will immediately remove and seize the license plate on the spot when such vehicles are found.
This measure aims to raise awareness about habitual delinquency and strongly pressure the payment of overdue taxes.
For efficient enforcement, the city has organized a joint enforcement team centered on the Taxation Division. These teams are conducting intensive patrols in areas where delinquent vehicles are expected to frequently appear.
Main enforcement locations include public parking lots with high foot traffic, large supermarket parking lots, apartment complex parking areas, and major roads in the city. The city is increasing the efficiency of enforcement by using vehicles and mobile devices equipped with a crackdown system to check delinquency information in real time.
A city official said, "Automobile tax is a very important resource used for regional development and enhancing citizen convenience," and added, "The city will continue to do its utmost to implement fair and transparent tax administration that citizens can trust."
