Yongin City Wins Grand Prize and Excellence Award in Provincial Extra Revenue Management and Local Tax Administration Evaluation

This evaluation is conducted annually targeting 31 cities and counties within the province to promote sound and efficient local financial management. The "Local Tax Administration Evaluation" is divided into three groups based on tax revenue scale, and the "Non-Tax Revenue Management Evaluation" is divided into five groups, each conducted separately.

The "Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation" consists of six basic indicators and thirteen adjustment indicators, including ▲local tax assessment and collection ▲accuracy of tax revenue forecasting ▲handling of administrative lawsuits and relief complaints ▲enhancement of fairness in real estate pricing. The city implemented special policies to improve taxpayer convenience, such as activating electronic notifications and village tax accountants, promoting local tax exemptions related to housing acquisition, and sending text message notifications to taxpayers who could not use automatic transfers due to insufficient balances. Through these efforts, the city collected 2.1168 trillion KRW in local taxes last year, recording an increase of 54.2 billion KRW compared to the previous year.

The "Comprehensive Evaluation of Non-Tax Revenue Management" was assessed based on nine indicators across five areas: ▲collection rate ▲arrears clearance performance ▲interest of the head of the institution ▲discovery of new revenue sources and system improvements ▲awards and dedicated organizational operation. The city increased interest income through the operation of policy funds for Yongin Y- Pay, a local currency. In particular, it was recognized for its contribution to revenue expansion by discovering omitted land ownership transfers within the Dongbaek District housing development project area, securing approximately 7.8 billion KRW in city-owned assets, and collecting about 60 million KRW annually in usage fees from related facilities, earning the grand prize.

Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "We will continue to actively discover policies that ensure fair and accurate tax administration and enhance taxpayer convenience to provide better administrative services to our citizens."
