Jeon Hyun-hee "Yoon's Absence, a Prelude to Defying the Constitutional Court's Decision?"

"No Message from Yoon on Accepting the Constitutional Court's Decision"

President Yoon Suk-yeol has decided not to attend the Constitutional Court's impeachment ruling, raising concerns from Jeon Hyun-hee, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who said, "Could this be a foreshadowing of an attitude to defy or resist the Constitutional Court's decision directed at his supporters?"

On the 4th, on CBS Radio's 'Park Jae-hong's One-on-One Match,' Jeon said, "From the perspective of the party involved, no matter what decision comes out, the president should at least once send a message to the people that he will accept the Constitutional Court's decision, but he has not done so yet," adding, "This suggests that he believes the case will be dismissed, and even if removal is decided, I think he will not accept it willingly."

In response to the host's question, "What if he does not accept it willingly?" she said, "After that, the presidential election schedule will proceed, and he will continue to raise his voice to his supporters," adding, "He might incite and rally his supporters, trying to maintain political influence."

Regarding the impeachment ruling, Jeon said, "Most expect an 8 to 0 acceptance, and some anticipate a 7 to 1 acceptance," adding, "We are confident that acceptance and removal are certain."

She continued, "This matter is truly very serious," and said, "Because it involves the current president's act of rebellion and the solemn situation of an impeachment decision, I believe each Constitutional Court justice will consider the weight of history."

She said, "It would not be easy to publicly hold an opinion to dismiss on clear unconstitutional or illegal grounds," adding, "If opinions among the justices diverge, it could cause national division, so if an acceptance decision is made, it is highly likely to be unanimous."
