Recruitment for Mapo-gu Women-Friendly City Companion Group Expanded to 50 Members Until April 11
Accelerating the Creation of a Women-Friendly City Through Subcommittees on Safety, Health, and Environment
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) is recruiting members to participate as the ‘Mapo-gu Women-Friendly City Companion Group’ until April 11.
The Women-Friendly City Companion Group plays the role of a ‘municipal partner’ who observes gender imbalance issues arising in daily life, proposes improvement measures, and leads the spread of a women-friendly local culture.
Mapo-gu has expanded the number of recruits from the previous 20 to about 50 to create a better living environment for women.
The recruitment target is those aged 18 or older who reside or work (have a business) in Mapo-gu, have an interest in women-friendly city policies and projects, and can participate continuously.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form posted on the Mapo-gu Office website or the Mapo Women Companion Center website notice board, and sending it via email to the person in charge or visiting the Mapo-gu Family Policy Division.
Selected members of the Companion Group will be divided into subcommittees based on various activity themes such as safety, health, and environment to carry out activities for creating a women-friendly city.
Last year, various activities were conducted, including inspections for illegal filming in public restrooms, monitoring of visiting violence prevention education, monitoring of the Mapo Women Companion Center facilities, and inspections of 24-hour convenience store safe keeper houses.
Mapo-gu received the Prime Minister’s Commendation at the ‘Women-Friendly City Government Awards’ hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family last year, by implementing advanced and innovative policies such as the ‘Sunlight Center,’ ‘Mapo Mom Cafe,’ and ‘Support for Jobs for Women with Career Interruptions.’
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “To create a women-friendly city, not only administrative efforts but also the participation of residents is very important,” and added, “Mapo-gu will listen carefully to the valuable opinions of the Companion Group and actively discover and promote various women’s policies.”
