Gyeonggi Province has launched the ‘Bioindustry Promotion Committee,’ which is responsible for deliberation and consultation related to the development of the bioindustry.
On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province held the first meeting of the Bioindustry Promotion Committee at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office, focusing on fostering Gyeonggi Province as a key hub for South Korea’s bioindustry by creating an innovative ecosystem for the bioindustry and strengthening global competitiveness through practical policy support, the province announced on the 4th.
This year, Gyeonggi Province will support 17 projects in four areas?cluster development, startups, workforce training, companies, and research and development (R&D)?with 11.7 billion KRW.

In particular, through three new projects?▲support for global technology commercialization in the bioindustry ▲promotion of the beauty and arts industry and support for specialized personnel ▲support for overseas expansion of medical device companies?the province plans to assist local bio companies in expanding overseas and strengthen the system to respond to new technological changes by expanding R&D investment.
Lee Seong-ho, Director of the Future Growth Industry Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Gyeonggi Province has the largest corporate and workforce base nationwide and has provided various supports such as infrastructure establishment, R&D support, and specialized workforce training. For advanced industrial development, communication and cooperation with related organizations are very important. We plan to collect opinions from experts in each field and reflect the voices from the industrial field in Gyeonggi Province’s bioindustry promotion policies."
