Despite the inclement weather, members of the Uljin Geobeolmora Cultural Heritage Guardians devotedly planted 30 Hibiscus syriacus trees, installed support stakes, engaged in environmental cleanup activities in the area, and had a meaningful time listening to the director of the Uljin Cultural Center explain the Gimi Independence Movement.
Founded on May 1, 2023, the Uljin Geobeolmora Cultural Heritage Guardians actively protect the region’s cultural heritage by visiting local heritage sites and conducting environmental cleanup activities once or twice a month, truly living up to their name as guardians of local cultural assets.
Kim Jeonghee, president of the Uljin Geobeolmora Cultural Heritage Guardians, stated, “We will continue to devote ourselves to aftercare, such as aphid control, pruning, and watering, so that the Hibiscus syriacus can thrive. We also plan to create and nurture a garden of the national flower, Hibiscus syriacus, which is gradually disappearing.”
County governor Son Byungbok said, “I highly appreciate your exemplary spirit in cultivating the national flower, Hibiscus syriacus, which is gradually disappearing. I ask for your continued interest in the preservation of local cultural heritage and environmental cleanup activities in the future.”
