Before the meeting, Yeoncheon-gun provided the workers with fire safety education, understanding of Korean culture and human rights protection, and legal education.
At this Foreign Seasonal Workers and Farmers Meeting, Deputy Director Bu Tan of the Employment Service Center in Dong Thap Province, Vietnam, Insurance Director Le Tan Cong, and Nguyen Thi Tu Chinh, an official from the People's Committee, attended to encourage the workers. Kim Gwan-jong, Director of Agricultural Policy Division, welcomed and encouraged both farm owners and workers, holding the meeting together with farmers and workers.
The foreign seasonal worker program allows farms to legally hire labor on a short-term basis according to their needs, and the system recommending re-entry for diligent workers has led to a continuous increase in demand.
A Yeoncheon-gun official stated, “Going forward, Yeoncheon-gun will carefully monitor the agricultural management situation of farmers and supply customized labor to place workers in the right positions, striving to increase farm income and revitalize the local economy.”
Meanwhile, 137 workers arrived in March, and about 150 additional foreign seasonal workers arrived in April, which is expected to greatly help resolve the labor shortage in the area.
