Support for Introduction of Group Purchasing System and Delivery Services
The city of Iksan, North Jeolla Province, announced on the 3rd that Iksan Gusi Market has been selected for the 'Digital Traditional Market Development Project' organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, securing approximately 240 million KRW in national and provincial funding.
Since 2022, the city has been preparing for the digital traditional market development project by promoting initiatives such as the First Step Market Development Project and the Culture and Tourism-Type Market Development Project together with merchants.
Iksan Gusi Market achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first traditional market in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province to be selected as a target site in the digital traditional market development project’s advancement sector.
With this selection, up to 400 million KRW will be invested over two years from 2025 to 2026 to drive the digital transformation of Iksan Gusi Market. Dedicated personnel will be supported to expand the foundation for online sales and delivery, and to strengthen digital marketing.
In addition, the city plans to support the introduction of a consumer-customized group purchasing system, operation of delivery services, and development of meal kits, allowing a diverse range of consumers to easily access the traditional market.
The city expects that by integrating digital technology into the traditional market, where fresh ingredients can be purchased, it will promote the sustainable growth of Iksan Gusi Market and provide citizens with a more convenient shopping experience.
Mayor Jung Heon-yul said, "We have worked hard for a long time to secure the selection of Iksan Gusi Market, and this is a valuable achievement accomplished together with the merchants. We will do our best to ensure that Iksan Gusi Market leads the digitalization of traditional markets."
