‘Gwangjin Interval Walking Crew’ Launches on the 16th to Promote Physical Activity and Prevent Obesity
Cardio Training Alternates 1 Minute of Slow Walking and 2 Minutes of Fast Walking... Practicing Moderate to High Intensity Walking in Daily Life
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating the ‘Moderate to High Intensity Walking Gwangjin Interval Walking Crew.’
The Walking Crew is an exercise program established last year to promote physical activity and prevent obesity. Walking in nature helps improve walking posture and increase basic fitness, receiving great response from residents.
The first session of the ‘2025 Gwangjin Interval Walking Crew’ starts on the 16th of this month and will be held every Wednesday morning for 10 weeks at Children’s Grand Park.
Applications for participation can be made on a first-come, first-served basis via phone registration at the Health Center’s Exercise Education Office from April 7 to 11.
Participants begin with warm-up exercises to prevent injuries, followed by running posture training on the Children’s Grand Park running track. Then, they complete the course by repeating cardio training that alternates 1 minute of slow walking and 2 minutes of fast walking.
Two exercise specialists from the Health Center serve as assistant instructors to coordinate breathing and pace. After completing the course, the program concludes with lower body strength enhancement exercises and stretching.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Consistent exercise and fitness management are essential for a healthy life. We have prepared a Walking Crew program that is easy to enjoy and participate in daily, so I hope everyone will vigorously walk while enjoying the beautiful nature of Gwangjin-gu.”
