Over 5,000 Cards Issued Daily
Up to 2,000 KRW Support for Participating in the "Send Chunsik to Work" Event Until Year-End
Kakao Bank announced on the 3rd that the cumulative issuance of the 'K-Pass Friends Check Card,' launched last February, has surpassed 300,000 cards within just two months of its release.
The 'K-Pass Friends Check Card' is designed to help customers who use public transportation save on transportation costs. It features the existing benefits of the 'Friends Check Card' combined with the 'K-Pass' benefits. The 'K-Pass' is a support policy that refunds up to 53% of transportation costs to customers who use public transportation more than 15 times a month.
The 'K-Pass Friends Check Card' exceeded 300,000 cumulative issuances on the 2nd, just two months after its launch. This is the result of more than 5,000 customers issuing the card daily on average, gaining popularity based on its 'transportation cost-saving benefits' and 'cute design.'
Customers with a monthly card usage of over 300,000 KRW can receive not only the 'K-Pass' refund benefits but also a 4,000 KRW cashback when spending over 50,000 KRW monthly on public transportation (bus/subway), which greatly helps reduce transportation expenses. For example, a 30-year-old customer who spends a total of 50,000 KRW on public transportation monthly can receive both the K-Pass refund of 15,000 KRW and the Friends Check Card cashback of 4,000 KRW, totaling 19,000 KRW in returns.
The cute design featuring Kakao Friends' 'Chunsik' is also a popular factor. This design, which depicts 'Chunsik' traveling on transportation in a simple 2D dot concept on a white plate, is exclusively available on the 'K-Pass Friends Check Card.'
Customer responses to using the card have also been very positive. On social networking services (SNS), comments include "I issued it because Chunsik is cute," "It’s the trendiest design among K-Pass cards," "The additional 4,000 KRW benefit helps save on transportation costs," and "I received over 40,000 KRW in refunds this month," showing a variety of reactions.
The 'Send Chunsik to Work' event to support transportation costs is also underway. By moving the 'Chunsik' character within a 20-second time limit to collect coins, participants can earn up to 2,000 KRW in prize money, with 10 KRW awarded per coin collected.
Each person can participate in the event up to two times by default, and additional attempts are granted each time the event link is shared with friends. Customers with the 'K-Pass Friends Check Card' can select 'Withdraw' after the challenge ends to receive their prize money. The event can be checked in the benefits tab within the Kakao Bank application until the end of the year.
Kakao Bank stated, "The differentiated design and benefits unique to the 'K-Pass Friends Check Card' seem to be the reasons for its popularity," and added, "We hope customers enjoy various pleasures by participating in the 'Send Chunsik to Work' event prepared with the support of our customers."
