Pocheon Accelerates Preparations for the 2025 Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival
To Be Held at the Hantangang Ecological Landscape Complex from October 9 to 12
A Global Festival Blending Nature and Cutting-Edge Technology
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 3rd that it has begun full-scale preparations for the successful hosting of the "2025 Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival," which will be held at the Hantangang Ecological Landscape Complex from October 9 to 12.
Co-hosted by Pocheon City and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival is a festival that combines the ecological landscape of the Hantangang River with cutting-edge drone technology, aiming to leap forward as a drone industry hub and revitalize the local economy.
The festival is linked with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s drone demonstration city construction project, with a project budget of approximately 2.6 billion KRW. Additionally, with administrative support such as Gyeonggi Province’s ad hoc investment review allocation, the preliminary procedures were completed after passing the investment review by the Gyeonggi Province Second Local Finance Investment Review Committee in March.
In particular, centered around the Y-shaped suspension bridge, the largest drone light show and drone fireworks show in Korea are scheduled to be held, offering a unique tourism experience that blends nature and advanced technology by inviting tourists not only from Korea but also from five overseas countries.
The festival will feature the world drone light show performed by the largest swarm of drones in Korea, the nation’s first ultra-high-speed drone racing competition set against a natural canyon backdrop, a drone soccer tournament, and the Korea Drone Academic Conference (conference), providing a venue for technical exchange and academic discussions.
Moreover, various contents have been prepared for family visitors to become the protagonists of the festival, including a drone experience zone, a world food culture festival, and the Hantangang Camping Festa.
A direct transaction market introducing and selling Pocheon’s excellent agricultural and livestock products, as well as a large food zone composed of representative foods and products of Pocheon, will allow visitors and campers to purchase fresh local specialties on-site, which is expected to lead to substantial revitalization of the local economy.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “The Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival will be a starting point to announce that Pocheon is the center of Korea’s drone industry through large-scale swarm drone performances, which are difficult to experience in daily life, based on the popular and innovative content of drones.”
He added, “We will also successfully lead the designation of the Opportunity Development Special Zone, which Pocheon City is focusing on, to create synergy effects such as tax and regulatory special benefits for resident companies, and establish Pocheon as a global hub for the drone industry.”
Meanwhile, Pocheon City formed a dedicated team last November to ensure the successful hosting of the "2025 Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival," accelerating preparations by establishing core promotion strategies through economic feasibility analysis and planning detailed programs.
In addition, the city plans to strengthen cooperation with local residents to create a sustainable festival model that reflects Pocheon’s uniqueness and identity, rather than a one-time event.
