Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 3rd that it has been finally selected for the ‘2025 Gyeonggi-do Convergence Tourism Content Development Contest’ hosted by Gyeonggi Province.
The project applied for by Gwangju City is titled ‘Healing Trip Embracing Paldang Nature, A Special Experience Meeting Nature,’ and it will receive a total project fund of 150 million KRW.
This contest focuses on creating a space where visitors can not only enjoy the beautiful natural scenery but also experience and enjoy the natural, historical, and cultural resources around Namjong-myeon, including Paldang Lake and Bunwon Kiln Site.
In particular, the sustainable tourism development method that integrates IT technology without environmental damage within the Paldang water source protection area received high praise.
Main programs include an AR mission tour using smart devices, such as treasure hunts and quiz events utilizing augmented reality (AR) technology and storytelling content.
Additionally, a healing content event called ‘Paldang愛 Booknic (Book+Picnic),’ where visitors can enjoy reading and relaxation amid the natural scenery of Namjong-myeon, including Paldang Mulangae Park, will be held, along with a rental service for emotional picnic supplies.
The tourism program is scheduled to operate in the waterfront parks around Namjong-myeon in the second half of this year, providing visitors with comfortable rest and diverse entertainment.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “We will continue to actively develop tourism content combining Gwangju’s beautiful nature and cultural resources to revitalize the local economy and build a sustainable tourism ecosystem.”
