Lee Sanggeun, the governor of Goseong County in Gyeongnam, made an urgent inspection of the wildfire response center and observation posts to check the response system in light of wildfires occurring nationwide during the spring season.

This inspection was carried out to raise awareness and strengthen prevention and response measures, as wildfires have recently been occurring frequently across the country and small fires have often escalated into large-scale wildfires.

On the 2nd, Governor Lee visited the wildfire response center in Deokseon-ri, Goseong-eup, where he checked the status of response equipment and received a briefing on the situation dissemination and response system in the event of a wildfire, inspecting both initial suppression and prevention readiness. He then visited the observation post at Muuisan in Sangri-myeon, where he urged on-site personnel to strengthen monitoring activities for wildfire prevention, ensure thorough preemptive preparation, and respond swiftly in the early stages.

Additionally, he instructed the Green Park Division to establish mid- and long-term wildfire prevention measures to fundamentally block the causes of wildfires, and directed the thorough establishment of the wildfire response system by checking the operation personnel, equipment status, and working conditions at the observation posts.

Governor Lee emphasized, "As we have seen in recent cases, even minor negligence can lead to wildfires that cause significant loss of life and property, which we have all experienced. Therefore, proactive prevention activities are necessary," adding, "It is important to prevent the spread of wildfires through swift initial response when they occur," stressing thorough prevention and quick action.
