Noticeable Effects of Safety Training and Coexistence Card
The workplace improvement support project for mobile workers, promoted by Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, is receiving a highly positive response from field workers.
Gwangsan-gu announced on the 3rd that, according to a survey conducted from November to December last year among 171 workers who participated in the mobile worker workplace improvement support project, 87% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the project.
This project was selected for the 'Platform Worker Workplace Improvement Support Project' contest hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and has been implemented over the past two years. For workers such as delivery and courier staff, who are frequently on the move and lack proper rest areas due to the nature of their jobs, Gwangsan-gu has designated and operated 52 private cafes and convenience stores as 'mobile worker rest areas'.
Gwangsan-gu is also providing customized safety education for local mobile workers in cooperation with the Road Traffic Authority and Rider Union. Participants in the training are provided with a 'mobile worker coexistence card' that can be used at cafes and convenience stores in the Gwangju area, not only raising safety awareness but also promoting mutual growth with local small business owners.
Reflecting the results of this year's satisfaction survey, Gwangsan-gu plans to recruit 300 safety education participants starting in April and continue to expand tangible welfare services.
Park Byungkyu, head of the district office, said, "Improving the working environment requires cooperation and solidarity within the local community," and added, "We will do our best to develop various policies to protect the rights and interests of platform workers in blind spots and to promote their nationwide expansion."
