Seoul Police Agency Chief Acting "Full Effort to Ensure Public Safety on Yoon Impeachment Verdict Day"

No Illegal Acts Will Be Tolerated

Park Hyun-soo, Acting Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, announced on the 3rd that all police forces will be mobilized to ensure public safety on the day of President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment trial verdict.

At around 10:10 a.m. that day, Acting Commissioner Park said in front of the main gate of the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, "On the day of the impeachment verdict, the Seoul police will be on full alert, mobilizing all personnel and equipment," adding, "We will make every effort to protect key facilities and important figures, including the Constitutional Court." He continued, "Since a large crowd is expected on the day of the verdict, we plan to do our best in personnel management and maintaining order."

The police plan to respond strictly with a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal acts such as violence. Acting Commissioner Park stated, "We will not tolerate any illegal activities," and added, "We also plan to promptly investigate online terrorism and threatening posts."

Kim Min-seop, Chief Superintendent and Commander of the 5th Mobile Unit of the Seoul Police Agency, said, "Those who had been setting up tents at the Constitutional Court have now completely moved to the outskirts," adding, "While maintaining a vacuum state around the Constitutional Court, we are guiding citizens' movements to minimize inconvenience." He also said, "When the provincial units arrive in Seoul at 2 p.m., we will reinstall the vehicle barriers and conduct separate training for commanders under the supervision of the 5th Mobile Unit."
