Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will operate forest healing programs at experiential forest rest areas in Bukhansan and other locations until December this year.
This year's forest healing programs will be conducted at the existing experiential forest rest areas in Bukhansan. Additionally, the program scope will be expanded by linking with the Hwagyesa Temple Forest Healing Trail, scheduled for completion in June this year, and will be operated as diverse programs actively utilizing spaces such as the barefoot walking path and the Charm Garden.
From Monday to Friday every week, forest healing programs such as ‘Vitality Forest,’ ‘Health Forest,’ and ‘Happiness Forest’ will be held in the morning (10:00?12:00) and afternoon (14:00?16:00) sessions. The Vitality Forest program takes place on Mondays and Thursdays and focuses on stress relief and mental and physical vitality enhancement through activities such as stress checks, barefoot walking, Taeguk 9 lines, and forest walks.
Also, the Health Forest program, held on Wednesdays and the fourth Saturday morning of each month, offers activities such as Yukja-gyeol breathing, healthy clapping, body acupressure, and health sharing for residents seeking to restore their health in the forest.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, the Happiness Forest program supports residents needing laughter and healing through activities like body shaking & mind shaking, happiness forest play, and light & forest gazing, utilizing forest resources to enhance feelings of happiness.
Customized garden prescription programs tailored to specific groups such as seniors, youth, and safety-related occupations are also conducted separately every month. These garden prescription programs are designed with specialized content that focuses on physical and mental health recovery by utilizing various natural elements according to the main users’ characteristics and needs. To operate the programs more safely and systematically, the district has assigned experts qualified as forest healing instructors, and the sessions are conducted in small groups of about 12 participants per session.
Residents wishing to participate can apply through the Seoul Public Service Reservation System. On-site registration or phone reservations are also available, and participation is completely free of charge. Additionally, group participation schedules can be arranged separately upon request.
For more details, please check the Seoul Public Service Reservation website or contact the Gangbuk-gu Parks and Greenery Division at 02-901-6954 for guidance.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee stated, “I hope everyone experiences healing of the body and mind through the forest healing programs,” and added, “We will continue to develop various programs utilizing the excellent forest resources of Bukhansan.”
