Sacheon City Extends Additional Application Period for Winter Strategic Crop Direct Payment Program

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 3rd that it will operate an additional application period for the '2025 Winter Strategic Crop Direct Payment Program' until the 14th, so that local farmers can participate more actively in the strategic crop direct payment project.

The Winter Strategic Crop Direct Payment Program targets farmers or agricultural corporations. It provides 1 million KRW per hectare for wheat cultivation in rice paddies during winter, and 500,000 KRW per hectare for the cultivation of other food and feed crops such as barley, oats, and potatoes.

In addition, if double cropping is practiced (winter - wheat or forage crops, summer - legumes or powder rice), an additional 1 million KRW per hectare is provided. Farmers and agricultural corporations wishing to apply for the additional winter strategic crop direct payment can visit the administrative welfare center of the township, town, or district where their farmland is located by the 14th.

Meanwhile, applications for the summer strategic crop direct payment will be accepted until May 30.

A city official said, "We expect the strategic crop direct payment program to contribute to stabilizing the rice supply and demand, improving food self-sufficiency, and increasing the utilization rate of rice paddies by adjusting rice cultivation areas and expanding double cropping systems. We ask for the active interest and participation of farmers."
