The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on the 2nd (local time) that it will impose a 25% tariff on beer cans and empty aluminum cans.

President Trump had previously implemented a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum products imported from abroad starting from the 12th of last month. This measure comes as the Department of Commerce added beer cans and empty aluminum cans to the list of aluminum derivative products, and it will take effect at 12:01 AM on the 4th.

This measure is expected to impact the U.S. imported beer market, which is worth a total of $7.5 billion annually. Mexico exported $6.3 billion worth of beer to the U.S. last year, dominating the U.S. imported beer market. Following Mexico are the Netherlands ($683 million), Ireland ($192 million), and Canada ($73 million) in terms of beer export volume to the U.S.

Meanwhile, President Trump plans to hold a press conference at 4 PM in the White House Rose Garden to announce reciprocal tariffs against countries worldwide.
