Partner Stunt Duo Takes First Place
Elevating Korea's Status on the International Stage
The Cheonmu Cheerleading Squad from Gumi University in North Gyeongsang Province has proven the high level of Korean cheerleading on the global stage by winning an international cheerleading competition.
The Cheonmu Cheerleading Team from Gumi University in Gyeongbuk participated in the Philippine Championship and took first place. The Cheonmu Cheerleading Team is taking a commemorative photo.
Gumi University announced on the 2nd that "the Cheonmu Cheerleading Squad took first place in the Partner Stunt Duo category at the '2025 Philippines National Cheerleading Championship (PNCC),' held from March 28 to 30 at the PhilSports Arena in Ortigas, Pasig City, Philippines."
This competition, organized by the Philippine Sports Commission, is a leading cheerleading event in Asia, with elite teams selected from various countries competing fiercely. Eighteen teams advanced to the finals to showcase their skills.
The Cheonmu Cheerleading Squad from Gumi University was specially invited to participate as the representative college cheerleading team of Korea. Coach Ko Kiju and athlete Bae Daeun (Department of Nursing) formed a team, delivering a flawless performance with fantastic teamwork and highly difficult techniques, receiving enthusiastic cheers from the local audience.
Director Heo Junhyeok stated, "Winning as Korea's representative in such a prestigious international competition is a truly valuable achievement," and added, "We will continue to do our best to showcase the competitiveness of Korean cheerleading on the world stage."
Meanwhile, since its founding in 2016, the Cheonmu Cheerleading Squad of Gumi University has established itself as a leading college cheerleading team representing Korea, standing out with achievements such as winning the 2022 National University Cheerleading Competition, the top prize at the 2024 Daegu Powerful Festival, and victory at the 2024 Cheerleading Japan competition.
