In Cooperation with Korea Expressway Corporation Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters
Expanded Mobility Support for People with Disabilities
First-Come, First-Served Applications at 60 Offices in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province is partnering with the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters of Korea Expressway Corporation to implement a 'Free Distribution Project for Reduced-Rate Hi-Pass Devices for People with Disabilities.' This initiative aims to improve mobility for people with disabilities and reduce the burden of highway usage.
The eligible recipients are: ▲passenger cars with engine displacement of 2000cc or less with a disability vehicle sticker ▲passenger cars with seating capacity of 7 to 10 ▲vans with seating capacity of up to 12 ▲cargo trucks of 1 ton or less ▲electric and fuel cell vehicles owned by people with disabilities registered in North Gyeongsang Province. However, those who have received a reduced-rate device within the past five years as of the application date are excluded from eligibility.
The distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must bring their Integrated Welfare Card, vehicle registration certificate, and either resident registration card or certificate to one of the 60 Korea Expressway Corporation offices in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province.
In Gumi, applications can be submitted at: ▲Gumi Office (Gyeongbu Expressway 172) ▲Namgumi Office (Gyeongbu Expressway 168) ▲Seonsan Office (Jungbunaeryuk Expressway 124, Seonsan-eup).
Once the reduced-rate device is installed, users can enjoy a 50% toll discount through Hi-Pass without having to stop at highway toll booths. This is expected to further enhance the convenience and safety of travel for people with disabilities.
This project has been in operation since 2020, benefiting about 250 Gumi citizens each year. Gumi City plans to strengthen promotion and support this year so that more people with disabilities can benefit.
A Gumi City official stated, "We expect this project to significantly improve mobility for people with disabilities," adding, "We will spare no effort in active promotion and support so that more people with disabilities can benefit."
