Reviewing Financial Support for Korean Companies Operating Locally
Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 2nd that it will urgently provide a donation of 200 million Myanmar kyat (approximately 140 million KRW) to aid in the recovery from the earthquake damage in central Myanmar.
Shinhan Financial has been assessing the damage situation of overseas Koreans residing in Myanmar and Korean companies operating locally through Shinhan Bank Yangon Branch and Shinhan Microfinance (Shinhan Card's local subsidiary in Myanmar) following the recent disaster.
Based on this, they decided to donate an emergency fund of 200 million kyat to support the disaster victims, and are also considering additional financial support for Korean companies affected locally.
This donation will be used through the Korean Red Cross and Myanmar Red Cross to cover hospital medical expenses for disaster victims and critically ill patients, as well as support emergency patient transportation.
Chairman Jin Ok-dong expressed, "We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families," and added, "We will continue to monitor the local situation and spare no effort to provide necessary support to help the affected residents."
