Mayor Baek instructed to reduce the budget by self-nurturing a large quantity of flowers to be planted on site and to expand the festival into a venue for livestock development and technology sharing by holding it in conjunction with the Holstein breed evaluation contest.
He also emphasized the professional operation by transplanting unused trees from the site of the Pocheon pumped-storage power plant construction project to the Hantan River tourist site to utilize natural resources as tourism resources, and by expanding the operation of convenience facilities such as agricultural specialty product sales booths, food booths, food trucks, and flea markets (plimarket).
Baek Young-hyun, mayor of Pocheon City, said, “We plan to develop the Pocheon Hantan River Garden Festa into Pocheon’s representative event full of ‘things to see, things to enjoy, and things to eat’ by linking it with various events such as the World Drone Festival, Geopark Forum, and Pet Festival, and to make it a complex festival encompassing tourism and the local economy.” He added, “We will leap forward to a greater Pocheon through the Garden Festa.”
Meanwhile, the ‘2024 Hantan River Garden Festa’ held last year attracted more than 300,000 visitors, greatly contributing to revitalizing the local economy and enhancing the city’s brand value.
