Wanju County Launches 'On-site Children's Rights Education' Program

Nine Areas Covered, Including Child Rights, Environment, and Sexuality

The Wanju-gun Child Ombudsperson Office in Jeonbuk is set to officially launch the "2025 On-site Child Rights Education" program.


According to the county on the 2nd, this child rights education initiative has been prepared to create a local community where all children can enjoy and have their rights respected without discrimination.

The education covers nine areas, including child rights, environment, sexuality, school violence prevention, cultural diversity, and labor rights, and will be conducted as customized programs tailored to the age and level of the children.


The Wanju-gun Child Ombudsperson Office has developed its own child rights education program by training its own instructors and collaborating with relevant local organizations and groups, in line with the 2025-2028 Child-Friendly City Master Plan.


Institutions wishing to participate in the child rights education can apply via email by the 18th. For more details, please refer to the Wanju-gun Children and Youth website.


County Governor Yoo Heetae stated, "We are continuously working to create an environment where all children can enjoy and have their rights respected without discrimination," adding, "We will do our best to help children understand and protect their own rights."


Meanwhile, the Child Ombudsperson Office is the nation’s first institution to advocate for and protect children’s rights in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.


Currently, various policies are being promoted within the local community to ensure the protection of children’s rights, including child rights education, the Child Grievance Center, the Child Rights Monitoring Group, and child impact assessments.
