A Variety of Performances and Hands-On Events Prepared
The 10th Yongmyeon Chuwolsan Cherry Blossom Festival in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, will be held for two days from April 5 to 6 at the Chuwolsan Cherry Blossom Plaza and surrounding areas.
This year’s festival, hosted and organized by the Yongmyeon Youth Association (President: Shim Gapcheol), features a variety of programs where local residents and tourists can come together against the backdrop of Chuwolsan’s beautiful cherry blossoms.
The festival will offer a range of events for all ages, including a Nanta performance, bubble show, fan-making experience and sales, and a Yongmaru-gil treasure hunt. In addition, visitors can purchase local specialties such as Yongmyeon strawberries and jam on-site, providing a unique delight for attendees.
In particular, the opening ceremony at 2 p.m. on the 5th will kick off with a gilnori performance by the Bongsan Waunongak Preservation Association, followed by special performances from trot singers Miss Kim and Song Yuna, a residents’ singing contest, and a special show by the Damyang Entertainers Association, further heightening the festival atmosphere.
There will also be award ceremonies to boost local pride and unity, including the ‘Oldest Longevity Award,’ ‘Longevity Couple Award,’ ‘Four-Generation Harmony Award,’ and ‘Multicultural Model Award.’
Shim Gapcheol, president of the Yongmyeon Youth Association, said on the 2nd, “We have prepared this festival to widely promote the beauty of Chuwolsan’s cherry blossoms, which embrace Damyang Lake, and to create an event where local residents and tourists can mingle together,” adding, “We ask for the interest and participation of many visitors in this festival, where you can make special memories with cherry blossoms in nature.”
