Kwon Young-se "Lee Jae-myung's Bloodthirsty Resignation Remark... Yoon Should Return and Focus on People's Livelihood"

"Democratic Party Should State Its Position on Accepting Constitutional Court's Decision"

Kwon Young-se, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, said on the 2nd, ahead of the impeachment trial verdict of President Yoon Seok-yeol, "The president should return promptly and take care of the people's livelihood."

Chairman Kwon made this remark at a party members' meeting held at the National Assembly on the same day, saying, "Although it is late, it is fortunate that the Constitutional Court has decided to reach a conclusion at last."

Chairman Kwon stated, "The People Power Party has clearly expressed its position to respect and accept the judgment of the constitutional institution regardless of the outcome," and urged, "The Democratic Party should also declare its position to fully accept the Constitutional Court's decision."

He sharpened his words toward the Democratic Party, which mentioned non-acceptance of the Constitutional Court's decision or bloodshed. Earlier, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, said that if President Yoon returns, "The entire Republic of Korea would be exposed to martial law, so imagine whether tremendous chaos and bloodshed can be endured." Park Hong-geun, a Democratic Party lawmaker, also stated on social media on the 1st that if the Constitutional Court dismisses the case, "As sovereign citizens, we have no choice but to disobey an unjust verdict."

Chairman Kwon criticized, "One Democratic Party lawmaker's announcement of a non-acceptance movement is a dangerous remark rejecting the constitutional order," adding, "It clearly shows a lack of will to uphold the constitution as a member of the National Assembly, which raises doubts about even basic qualifications."

He also pointed out, "Furthermore, Lee Jae-myung did not hesitate to make the outrageous remark that 'bloodshed could occur if the president returns,'" and said, "This is something that cannot be seen as the words and actions of a political leader who talks about democracy."
