'Livelihood Economy Recovery Measures Report Meeting' Held
Regular Closure System for Government Office Cafeteria Introduced to Revitalize Local Commercial District
Gyeonggi-do Icheon City has decided to swiftly execute budgets in the consumption and investment sectors to revitalize the local economy amid the economic downturn. As part of efforts to activate the local commercial district, a regular closure system for the government office cafeteria will be introduced.

On the 2nd, Icheon City announced that on the 31st of last month, a 'Livelihood Economy Recovery Measures Report Meeting' was held in the city hall's medium conference room, attended by 36 people including Deputy Mayor Eom Jin-seop, heads of departments, and senior officials, where these measures were prepared.
At the report meeting, the city discussed departmental policies for low-income earners, small business owners, small and medium enterprises, and vulnerable groups, as well as six major areas of measures for revitalizing the local economy: ▲Consumption ▲Investment ▲Jobs ▲Vulnerable Groups ▲Others (Livelihood Stability) ▲Common (Domestic Demand Promotion).
First, in the consumption sector, to stabilize prices and promote domestic demand, the city will operate a focused period for the swift execution of budgets in consumption and investment sectors. Additionally, to revitalize the local commercial district, a regular closure system for the government office cafeteria will be introduced. Alongside this, measures such as ▲Priority purchase of local products ▲Use of local companies for major festivals ▲Application of locally produced materials in apartment model houses ▲Support for vulnerable groups affected by the climate crisis ▲Promotion of agricultural and livestock product consumption will also be implemented.
To expand investment and stimulate the economy, the city plans to expand customized support projects for small and medium enterprises, including interest rate reductions and improvements to the business environment, and to promote the creation of new industrial complexes, establishment of the Icheon Industrial Promotion Agency, and new investments in environmental infrastructure facilities.
In the job sector, the city will implement ▲Recruitment events ▲Support for employment and start-ups for women with career interruptions ▲Operation of specialized employment programs for young women ▲Promotion of reusable container use. Policies to protect vulnerable groups will also be actively pursued, such as suspending collection actions for livelihood-related tax delinquents and providing heating and cooling cost support for low-income elderly. Furthermore, the city added that it will promote measures such as acquisition tax reductions for first-time homebuyers among housing-vulnerable families and support for customized certification courses.
Deputy Mayor Eom said at the report meeting, "We must consider efficiency and policy direction so that livelihood economy recovery policies in each sector can have practical effects on the ground," adding, "We will prioritize livelihood stability and economic revitalization as our highest values and mobilize all administrative capabilities to focus on these efforts."
