Gwangju Office of Education to Offer 'Find My Dream Career Counseling' for Elementary, Middle, and High School Students

First-Come, First-Served from May to December... Test-Based Program Design

Gwangju Office of Education announced on the 2nd that it will operate a customized career counseling program, "Finding My Dream Career Counseling," for elementary, middle, and high school students and their parents from April to December.

The program targets 5th and 6th grade elementary students, 1st to 3rd grade middle school students, and 1st and 2nd grade high school students and their parents. It will be conducted one-on-one and face-to-face from April to December. Counseling for elementary and middle school students will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while high school students can participate on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The counseling will be provided by a "Career Counseling Support Team" consisting of 40 members, including teachers specializing in career guidance and researchers from Gwangju National University of Education. The number of counseling sessions per day is limited to three participants on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure in-depth counseling.

Various tools such as the MLST (Multi-dimensional Learning Strategy Test) and the Holland Career Development Test will be used to assess students' emotions, learning attitudes, and career inclinations, and counseling will be conducted based on the results.

Applications for counseling can be made on the Gwangju Career and College Admission Support Center website starting at 10:00 a.m. on the first Monday of the month prior to the desired counseling date. Applications for May counseling open on May 7, and for June and November counseling, due to holidays and the college entrance exam schedule, applications will be accepted on May 7 and October 10, respectively. Counseling will not be available during the first and second weeks of November.

Superintendent Lee Jeongseon stated, "Many students do not know what they like or what they are good at, making it difficult for them to decide on a career path," and added, "We will help students design their own career paths through customized counseling."
