Busan Urban Corporation Signs ESG Council Agreement with Busan City Public Agencies and Civic Groups

Spreading ESG Values: ESG Council Business Agreement
Promoting ESG Culture... Collaboration for Sustainable Management

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) signed a business agreement for an ESG council with five public institutions under the Busan Metropolitan Government and civic organizations on the 31st of last month to promote the spread of ESG culture and mutual cooperation in the local community.


The ESG council includes a total of five public institutions?Busan Metropolitan Corporation, Busan Transportation Corporation, Busan Tourism Organization, Busan Facilities Management Corporation, and Busan Environmental Corporation?as well as five civic organizations: Busan Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice, Busan Federation for Environmental Movement, Busan YMCA, Busan YWCA, and Busan Green Trust.


According to the agreement, these organizations will work together to spread ESG values throughout the local community, focusing on specific action tasks such as joint projects to reduce plastic usage and the expansion of ESG culture in the region.


To strengthen its ESG management, BMC published its first sustainability management report last year and has been making efforts to enhance sustainable ESG management through the establishment of an ESG Management Advisory Committee and joining the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).


Shin Changho, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "We will do our best to realize ESG values together with the local community by closely cooperating with institutions through joint tasks identified by the ESG council."
