Buyeo-gun, Chungnam Province, announced on the 2nd that it will be conducting a special fundraising campaign until the 30th to support recovery efforts and aid for wildfire victims in Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Ulsan regions.
The county experienced severe natural disasters over the past three years, to the extent that it was declared a special disaster area, and was able to quickly return to normal life thanks to volunteers and relief supplies sent from all over the country.
The wildfire that started in Uiseong, Gyeongnam on the 21st destroyed more than 3,700 homes and left over 3,300 people displaced, causing significant damage.
The county plans to conduct a special fundraising campaign for residents, along with a donation drive among all county employees.
County Governor Park Junghyun said, "I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the residents of Yeongnam region who are suffering from wildfire damage," and added, "Since Buyeo-gun also received much help in the past due to natural disasters, now it is our turn to share support."
The donations raised will be used to help wildfire victims in the affected areas through the Chungnam Branch of the Korean Red Cross and the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea.
Individuals, businesses, and organizations wishing to participate in the special fundraising campaign for wildfire victims can deposit their donations to the Chungnam Branch of the Korean Red Cross or the Chungnam account of the Community Chest of Korea.
